Property owners who host cellular antennas, rooftop wireless facilities, or other electromagnetic-emitting equipment have legal and regulatory obligations under FCC human-exposure rules (47 CFR § 1.1307–1.1310), OSHA workplace safety requirements (29 CFR § 1910.97), and any applicable state and local regulations. We created RF/EME Safety as a Service to help keep workers safe, ensure property owners are in compliance, and reduce the risk of workplace injury claims.
What is RF/EME Safety as a Service? Maintenance and Operations personnel typically do not have a background in electromagnetic engineering. We take on that role for you and ensure you always have a current RF/EME Safety Plan, update your plan as laws and regulations change, and train/retrain your employees and contractors per your plan and current FCC/OSHA standards.
Although cellular carriers are responsible for ensuring their equipment operates within FCC limits, property owners are primarily responsible for preventing unauthorized access to areas where electromagnetic exposure could exceed permissible limits. This includes ensuring proper site access controls, maintaining required warning signs and barriers, coordinating with carriers, and protecting employees, contractors, and the public.
RF/EME Safety as a Service reduces workplace injury claim risk by enabling clients to show a duty of care for the electromagnetic safety of their workers and contractors.
